17/08/2011 // The Royal Norwegian Embassy, Harare started using the Norwegian Application Portal as of 1 February 2011. Anyone applying for a visa to Norway should now register the application, pay the application fee online and book an appointment on the secure Application Portal before submitting their supporting documents at the Embassy. It will still be possible to hand in paper applications. However, applicants who apply online will be given priority.  

 

 

Visas for Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland


Norway represents Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland for Schengen visas. Zimbabweans travelling to these countries on business or as tourists may obtain a visa for a short stay up to 90 days valid for Schengen countries.

Requirements for a short stay Schengen visa

 

Please take note of the following important information before proceeding:

  • Applications to be made at the Embassy or Consulate of the country of main destination.  Failing this, please apply at the Embassy or Consulate of country of longest duration of stay.
  • Ensure there are minimum two free pages in the passport.
  • The validity of the passport shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Schengen States or, in the case of several visits, after the last intended date of departure.
  • Applicants may be requested to provide additional information or documentation as well as a personal interview. 
  • Please include all required documentation with the application.  The Embassy will not be responsible for any documents in support of a visa sent directly to the Embassy.
  • All bank statements and  proof of financial means must be presented in original format or certified copies thereof.  
  • Cost of visa:  Adults 95 USD.  Children 6 - 12 years pay 50 USD. 
  • Visa fees are non-refundable.

 

 

Documentation:     

  • Application for a Schengen visa should include application form, fully completed and signed by the applicant.  If the application is for a minor, the parents or legal guardian need to sign the application form.  
  • One recent passport colour photo (35 x 45 mm  background in white).
  • A valid return ticket or an itinerary of planned trip with dates specifying exits from Schengen states.
  • Medical travel insurance to the value of Euro 30,000.00 (equivalent to USD 41,000.00) - specifying name of beneficiary, validity and schedule of benefits. Please ensure that the name of the insured and the name of the passport holder are one and the same.
  • Proof of financial means which can be shown in any of the following ways:  bank receipt of traveller's cheques, bank or credit card statements dated  as close to date of submission of visa application as possible.  The minimum required budget for a stay (in cases where the applicant pays all the cost) is USD 85 per day.
  • Accomodation:  confirmation/paid deposit of hotel accomodation, proof of tour, cruise, whichever is applicable.  If staying with family or friends, the host must submit a guarantee statement.
  • We reserve the right to request further documentation should it be deemed necessary.

 

Business or professional trip:

  • Please provide in addition a signed letter of invitation from the company in the country to be visited, on that company's letterhead, stating the purpose of the visit.
  • Please provide an original letter issued by your employer in Zimbabwe confirming employment, financial responsibility, medical insurance, nature and duration of visit.

 

Minors: 

  • Children under 18 years of age travelling alone or with one parent, must submit written consent of parent (s) or guardian, accompanied by a copy of the ID of the parent or guardian.

              

                                      

General information:

  • Please note that there is no legal right to a visa.  Presentation of the required documents does not automatically guarantee the issue of a visa.  The Embassy reserves the right to refuse a visa, even though all documentation has been submitted. 
  • The possession of a visa is only one of the prerequisites for entry into the territory of the Schengen States.  Should the border authority refuse entry, no claim to reimbursement of any expenses incurred can be submitted.  
  • The Embassy's Consular opening hours:  Monday to Friday between 09:00 -11:00. The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
