An important part of the making of a new constitution as part of the roadmap of the Global Political Agreement is a reform in the security sector. Norway has supported the work for women’s rights in the mainly masculine police and legal system since 1990. Since then both men and women from all over Southern and Eastern Africa has taken the master course today named “Master in Women and Law” (MWL) at the University of Zimbabwe. The programme focuses on women’s position in the judicial system and women’s rights in general in the region. Every year the Master students at the SEARCWL-UZ go on a field trip for research for their Master Degree. As part of the result of the 2011 Field trip to Gweru they put together a presentation. The Norwegian Embassy, as Financial Partner, was invited as special guest to the event. Through engagement the festival wanted to emphasise on putting differences aside and get together in arts and celebrate. The object of the meeting was to put focus on the increased need for funding for the Emergency Relief Fund (ERF). Participants around the table were representatives from the ERF Board, Humanitarian Country Team, national and international NGOs that have received funding and finally existing and possible new donor countries, as the funding is now in a critical low situation.
