Last updated: 16/11/2010 // ISFiT -The International Student Festival in Trondheim, one of the world’s largest student festivals, is being held in Norway in February 2011. The theme for this year’s festival is global health. The application deadline is 30 September.

The ISFiT festival is a meeting place where students from all over the world can work together with eminent speakers and performers to address global issues.

The ten-day festival is held every other year. Since it was launched in 1990 its participation has grown to include more than 450 delegates from over 100 countries.

Global health

ISFiT is now encouraging students to apply to participate in ISFiT 2011, to be held in Trondheim in February. With global health as its theme, the festival will be focusing attention on the challenges and opportunities the world is facing, both now and in the future. A key issue for the festival will be to identify what students can do to promote global health.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureates return to Norway

The ISFiT organisers invite world leaders to participate in the festival in Trondheim as part of their general aim to make ISFiT a forum where those who are currently at the forefront of world affairs can meet the leaders of tomorrow. Several Nobel Peace Prize laureates have come back to Norway, home of the Nobel Peace Prize, to discuss global challenges with the diverse group that the ISFiT participants comprise. In 2009 Nobel laureates Desmond Tutu, Shirin Ebadi and Betty Williams attended the tenth ISFiT festival. The speakers for 2011 have not yet been announced.

How to apply

Students aged 18 years or over at the time of the festival may apply to participate in the seminars or Dialogue Groups. Participants who are unable to cover their travel expenses may apply to ISFiT for a travel grant. Information about how to apply can be found on the festival’s homepages. All enquiries about ISFiT 2011 should be sent directly to the organisers.
